This new article by PTP co-investigators Ramiro Gual and Máximo Sozzo describes the history and experience of unionization of incarceration workers in federal prisons in Argentina. (Link in bio)

*Statement on the restriction on the right to university education in prisons in Argentina*

On March 25, through resolution 372/2025, the Ministry of Security of the Nation, banned the formation of student centers within the Federal Penitentiary Service and the stay of persons deprived of their ambulatory liberty in study spaces outside the hours of class. The measure seriously restricts the right to higher education and points to the heart of university centers and programmes in the context of lockdown, in the framework of the definancing and attack on public universities and the scientific and technical system brought forward by the National Government.
We reject the resolution, appeal to all institutional and legal mechanisms to overturn it, and call for an overwhelming response from all university centers and organized spaces inside and outside the jail.

El día 25 de marzo, mediante la resolución 372/2025, el Ministerio de Seguridad de la Nación, prohibió la conformación de centros de estudiantes en el ámbito del Servicio Penitenciario Federal y la permanencia de las personas privadas de su libertad ambulatoria en los espacios de estudio fuera del horario de clase. La medida restringe seriamente el derecho a la educación superior y apunta al corazón de los centros y programas universitarios en contextos de encierro, en el marco del desfinanciamiento y ataque a las universidades públicas y al sistema científico técnico llevado adelante por el Gobierno Nacional.
Rechazamos la resolución, apelamos a todos los mecanismos institucionales y legales para anularla y convocamos a organizar una respuesta contundente de todos los centros universitarios y espacios organizados dentro y fuera de la cárcel.

El lunes pasado, nuestra fellow Natacha, junto con las RAs Deana y Quimey, realizaron entrevistas en Kingston con algunas de las miembros del colectivo.

For more than five years, the PPN and the OCI have maintained links of collaboration for the exchange of information, experiences and technical cooperation in human rights.
