About
Quimey Martinez Magarzo is a criminal lawyer from the University of Buenos Aires. She holds a Master's in Human Rights and Social Policies from the University of General San Martín, and a Master in Criminology and Criminal Law Sociology from the University of Barcelona. She is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Law and Legal Studies at Carleton University (Canada). She has worked for fifteen years in the Justice of the Argentine Nation and has been an activist in human rights and feminist organizations. She is also currently a researcher at the University of José C. Paz (Argentina) and a research assistant on the Prison Transparency Project at Carleton University. Her research work has focused on penal systems specifically the judicial system, and its production of institutional gender violence on women, lesbians and transgender people in Argentina. She is interested in research on the intersections between feminist movements, bodies, penal systems and confinement.
